Jimmie Van Zant has passed away in hospice care
The cousin of the iconic Van Zant’s has been battling liver cancer for several years. He had been awaiting a liver transplant for a few years and there were several benefit concerts held in support of his fight for life where other music artists gave of their time and talent to help him.
The Van Zant family has seen their share of tragedy when they lost Ronnie Van Zant, the founder of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other band members were killed in a plane crash in 1977. Jimmie is the cousin to the Van Zant’s and grew up right down the road from them. He too entered the music business and made a name for himself touring around the United States for several years. Known in the southern rock genre, many fans are praying for Jimmie’s gentle transition to the afterlife and are getting ready to say goodbye to one of their favorite performers and an all around good guy. Below is one of his music video’s, a song about an unfinished life. Sometimes they say art imitates life and in this case life is imitating art.
Jimmie Van Zant has passed away in hospice care in Florida. The Daily Banner wants to offer their prayers to the Van Zant family, friends and fans at this very sad time.

Very sad news
But They that wait upon the Lord Shall Renew their Strength.
They Shall mount up with wings as Eagles.
They Shall run and not be weary and They Shall walk and not faint.
Amen!
That two great artists in the last couple of days . Let’s pray
How old was Jimmy? Keeping family and friends in my prayers
I’d be curious to read some of your lyrics you’ve written to your songs. Please feel free to write to me to send them, thanks!
Google them…by his name I am sure you will find them.
I’m sure he will get right on that for you.
I’m curious to know if Jimmy’s alcohol consumption had anything to do with him needs to have his liver transplant? Hmmm…
In a time like this, some things should be left unmentioned Scotty Gustafki!
Wow man.I wonder if all the crack u smoking will have something to do with u passing asswipe!think anything u want but not every thought is meant to be spoken.think before u blurt out random shit.ever think the family and other loved ones might read this.?????hmmmmm dumbass.
thank you… 😉
I agree, Jay.
Amen
Why Jay? Maybe if it was due to extreme alcoholic consumption it might save someone else from liver disease or liver cancer!
Totally agree, Jay Morrison!
Amen bro
Really.? Really?
God is a consuming fire. Full of mercy, grace, forgiveness, compation, truth ,and love.
It does not matter.what matters is our soul, and relationship with God
I truly feel the same way thank you for putting it out there
@Scotty G not all liver disease is the result of alcohol. My husband just died from liver diseased he did drink alcohol
They said it was liver cancer, not cirrhosis
Not usually. Cirrhosis is usually what excess alcohol can cause. Cancer of the liver may have begun elsewhere and traveled to the liver. Any condition can and does occur for a reason only GOD knows. I expect there will be heavenly music in Heaven tonight. His talent will last here on earth forever. God bless, comfort & heal his family and friends. ♥
Idiot
Who really gives a damn?
Dumbass!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm dumbass
People can also have genetic issues that attack the liver. A person has passed away, have class and if you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all. You have no right to assume how and why a person died.
does it matter if it was alcohol? Could have been numerous things. Maybe your next McDs cheeseburger will give you ass cancer..
Most likely! My brother died the same way at 55
Does it matter in the end? Habits or genetics determine our lifespan. Its what you do for good that counts. Only sanctimonious retards look at lifestyle as a source of “blame”.
your point? damn why be such a dick? dick
i wasn’t aware that u can get cancer from drinking…
So sad to say goodbye to another very talented man. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
That’s a great question – good for people hear and know so they don’t make the same mistake..
Really???????????? Scotty Gustafski It does not matter.
It’s none of our business really … In my family liver disease runs in my family and ironically the nondrinkers are the ones dying
I do not drink nor have I ever drank. But I do have liver disease. That will most likely turn into liver cancer. So don’t judge. It’s not your business.
I`m thinking Hepatitis C, which many have and don`t know it til it`s too late!
Yeah Jimmy Gustafski, you must be a kid or a lonely mad at the world soul to say something like that. He’s gone and have some respect.
no it was probably regular headache pills you can legally get anywhere, no age requirements. they cause cirrhosis more than alcohol ever has. Tylenol is just dangerous.
HEARTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU, GOD BLESS
May your transition be an easy, peaceful one. Your family that has gone before you is waiting to take your hand and guide you safely home.

Very sad…….. I too wonder about his alcohol use. I know it won’t bring him back but maybe for just one of his fans fighting the demon this could change their life
I had the opportunity and pleasure to see Jimmy live several times at Motorcycle Rally’s in Ia and Mn. Great music and always a great show. RIP Jimmy.

I’m sure Ronnie was there to guide him home to the love of God, our meriful Father.R.I.P., Jimmie Van Zant. Fill Heaven with Southern music.
Jimmy and his live music will be missed.
My thoughts and prayer are with Jimmy’s family and other loved ones. May God give you peace inside while you go through adjusting to life without Jimmy in it.
I have lost both parents and older sister and other family members to cancer, I understand what you are going through. Knowing the end is coming and trying to prepare yourself but find that no amount of preparation can help the feelings when the end does arrive.
While we lost a loved one, God is welcoming Jimmy home where there is no more sorrow and pain.
Allow God to comfort you in this time of loss.
It’s not nice/proper to speak ill of the dead. They are passing on where they may go is how right with GOD they were. Say a prayer for the family and the dead, but do not speak ill of the dead.
god love you jim
