The Daily Banner had a great time at the Port Chuck show and enjoyed chatting with Steve Burton. This is a bit of that interview with Steve Burton.
TDB: Hello Steve.
SB: Hello. Nice to meet you.
TDB: Great show. Was this a Farewell Tour?
SB: No, this wasn’t farewell. We already did our farewell tour. This was a reunion tour.
TDB: Reunion, okay.
SB: The next one will be “Resurrection.”
TDB: I was going to say because you guys were saying that it was over when you were on stage. Scott was saying that.
SB: No. It was supposed to be over a year ago because everybody’s schedules are different now. We are not all on the same show so it has been very difficult to schedule. So we are able to do this, but we lost Brandon but Jonathon Jackson stepped in.
TDB: You didn’t actually lose him.
SB: What do you mean?
TDB: He’s still around. (Laughter) He’s still part of the band.
SB: (Laughter) Yes, we are probably going to do October in New York.
TDB: Cool. That is where I am from, you can tell.
SB: There you go, New Jersey.
TDB: So how are you enjoying Young and the Restless? Do you have more time off being on Y&R?
SB: I do. I live here and get more time off.
TDB: Let’s say this out loud because you have so many fans bitching over you leaving GH and I know people that have interviewed you know that this was a decision you made based on what was best for your family. You have not had a front burner story-line since you have been on Y&R. You are not Stone Cold anymore, you’re Dylan.
SB: That’s right. I have a great life here; I get to see my kids and my wife so much. I get to do this stuff. It has just been an amazing life change for me.

TDB: Your show tonight was a lot of fun. Do you want to get more involved in music?
SB: A little bit. I write with Scott and we do a writers night a lot called, “Nashville Nights.” We are doing it at the Rochester in a couple of weeks. It’s fun so yeah.
TDB: So I understand that some of the fans that were here tonight were actually here for the last 2 nights as well?
SB: Counting tonight 3 yes, 3 in a row.
TDB: Wow!
SB: Yeah I know, amazing.
TDB: That’s commitment.
SB: It is. They follow us everywhere and it is pretty amazing.
I had some question for him that I wanted to ask “off the record,” so I had to turn the recorder off. What I can tell you is that we further discussed how the Young and the Restless totally works with him on his scheduling so he gets to spend more time at home in Tennessee. He loves and misses all his friends and former cast mates at General Hospital but this was the right move for him as it allows him so much more quality time with his family. The folks at the Young and the Restless are very good to him but he does hope to continue to see everyone out there when Port Chuck comes to your town.

ACTUALLY IT WAS GH’S FAULT THAT HE LEFT. HE HAD BEEN SAYING HE WANTED TO MOVE HIS FAMILY TO TENNESSEE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. HE ASKED FOR THE SCHEDULING CHANGE TO GIVE HIM MORE TIME WITH HIS FAMILY…….THEY DECLINED SO HE LEFT. HE WAS GREATLY MISSED BY HIS FAMS OF 20 YEARS WHEN HE LEFT, BUT NO ONE REALLY BLAMED HIM. BILLY MILLER LEFT Y&R FOR BASICALLY THE SAME REASON. HE WANTED EXTRA TIME TO DO OURSIDE (PRIME TIME) PROJECTS AND TIIC TOLD HIM NO…..SO HE LEFT HIS PLUM ROLE AS BILLY ABBOTT. WHAT BAFFLES ME IS THE FACT THAT GH COWTOWED TO TONY GEARY AND GAVE HIM EXTENDED VACATION TIME. I DIDN’T MISS TG, BUT I SURE MISSED STEVE. NOW WE HAVE TWO JASON’S SO IT IS GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THIS DILEMMA PLAYS OUT. HOPE ITS A GREAT S/L….GH IS IN DIRE NEED OF AN EXCITING ONE. SENDING MY BEST TO BOTH ACTORS…..LOVE THEM BOTH!
