WHAT IF
“What If” there was a song that made you cry and yet you could not turn it off? In the case of “What If” by TaniA Kyllikki you can’t turn it. You actually want to play it again and again. This is the first time I teared up during a song. This is a heartbreaking but extraordinarily beautiful song. Read on for Tania Kyllikki’s “What If” is perfection wrapped in a beautifully melodic opus song review.
The Beginning
As the song starts, without any words you feel tenseness and an incredible sorrow. That is just the first few seconds of the song coming out of the speakers. Everything there does as it is intended. You listen on and cannot help but feel the feeling that something is not right.
32 Seconds In

We’ve just listened to the first 32 seconds of “What If.” You are all set for a scenario that actually makes you feel the pain. It’s not happening to you but as you listen to the sound of the lilting piano you can feel it. TaniA Kyllikki’s voice begins to fill your ears with an angelic sound. You want to push on through the song “What If” to see what is causing her so much pain. She sounds and looks like an angel and yet you can feel her heart breaking as she sings.
Song Structure
The structure of the song while very basic is so well done that it feels like an old friend once it begins. The voice that you hear easily slides from note to note. It is almost as effortlessly as a butterfly floating from flower to flower. TaniA Kyllikki has such incredible range in her vocals. It’s almost as if “What If” is as easy and natural for her to sing as it is for most of us to simply talk. That is hard for a lot of people to understand at first.
Flawless
To put it another way, the voice of TaniA Kyllikki is so flawless that it is an instrument on its own. Have any one of you listened to some singers trying to sing the US National Anthem at a ball game? Some of those singers stretch so hard to sing it that they almost sound like they don’t even know the song.
However when you listen to TaniA Kyllikki sing “What If” you will hear a singer using her voice as it had been intended. That is effortless, easy to hear and giving you the chills. Well that, my friend is the mark of a world class singer.
Not like other songs
Most tunes that come across my desk to be reviewed are decent enough. Occasionally, one or two I replay a time or two and then move on only to forget about them a day or two later.
However, before I was even done listening to TaniA Kyllikki gracefully glide through her song “What If”, I had already added her to my personal Spotify playlist. I also followed her so that I could spend some of my off time listening to what this woman has to offer.
The Best of the Best
It is like someone took Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, threw all 3 voices in a blender and came out with this incredible vocal. While most producers may choose to cover vocals heavily in effects and instrumentation, the person in charge here chose to use the less is more technique.
Sometimes it’s not all about the Bass

If you pay close attention here you will notice no discernible bass. There is no percussion either. Just TaniA Kyllikki voice, a piano with some strings and horn and you are left with a masterpiece.
Not only does that not happen often to me, I am actually looking forward to hearing more of her and I personally predict that one day this young lady is going to be A STAR on the world stage and will have millions of followers across the globe. Below is a Q & A we did with TaniA for Tania Kyllikki’s “What If” is perfection wrapped in a beautifully melodic opus song review:
Q.1.) Was this song written from a personal loss?
This song was written from my fiance and I personal experiences of losing a set of twins and later triplets. We needed to find some way to bring closure, while yet making a memory for them that would last forever. They will always be in our hearts and the question will resurface, What If? We also hope this song provides healing and comfort for others dealing with loss.
Q.2.) How did you meet your fiance?
I met Garry online. He had been in my friends list on Facebook. He would often like my posts and any music I shared. One day I posted a audio file of me singing one of my original songs acapella. I asked if anyone would be interested in putting a musical arrangement around my idea.
Garry responded later with a entire piano track based around my lyrics and melody. I was pleasantly surprised and the rest is history. If he hadn’t responded we never would have connected.
Q.3.) How long have you been writing as in when did you know you had a knack for it?
I was writing lyrics as a young child and by my teenage years I had perfected rhyming schemes, melodies, arrangements, deep lyrics, and song formation. It was like having my own radio station in my head. I wrote from my heart about life.
Q.4.) You have significant range, did you take vocal lessons?
I did have minimal lessons as a child but it didn’t last long because my mother couldn’t afford it. However I continued to love and listen to music and my mum’s record collection became my teachers. So most of what you hear from me is self taught, but it’s also a gift from God. I was singing Etta Jame’s At Last, as a toddler. I sang all the time, the music was just all inside of me. It was natural.
Q.5.) Do you have any plans on touring in the US?
I would love to do a tour of the United States performing my music in the upcoming future. I have a growing support of fans there as well. It would be awesome to build that connection in person with my followers. We are planning on arranging some live performances for me in the UK soon.
Q.6.) Where is most of your recording taking place, the UK or the US?
Actually the recording process starts in both the UK and US in no particular order. Me, my team, and partner work together going back and forth until we accomplish our goal. We are working on my second album at the moment for late release this year.
