Merle Haggard had been suffering from pneumonia since early December. There was at time in December of 2015 that the doctors thought Haggard’s lung cancer may have recurred. It was never confirmed or denied that the cancer was back. He never recovered from the illness that the public was told was double pneumonia after cancer was presumably ruled out. He was released from the hospital in early 2016 but he never regained his strength of his health. His illnesst dragged on for several months with him having to cancel concert after concert. Merle Haggard passed away on his 79th birthday and leaves behind a loving family and a fan base that will never forget him.

Those are my favorite memories in my life and every time I hear Willie, Waylon, Johnny, Chris, and Hank Jr. and the late Merle Haggard it warms my heart and brings me back to those wonderful days. My daddy is gone to but like their memory, his will live on forever in my heart, mind, and soul!

I read abut Merle’s passing on Yahoo and it was just that, a story. You on the other hand put life into his story and make it loving and graceful and all he did and how he went out. He predicted it!
