Days cancellation rumors are spreading again with the 50th Anniversary celebration quickly approaching. Days of our Lives will be celebrating its 50th year in the month of November, 2015.
There will be many stars returning for this celebration and it is going to be a month of love and happiness, memories and sharing. As far as whether it is going to go forward or be cancelled is still in question and anything else that is being circulated via the internet is just speculation. This is what we know. NBC put out a press release in January of 2014 saying NBC had extended the long-running daytime drama through 2015 and into and until September 2016.
They chocked up the extension to the fact that ‘Days of our Lives’ had a resurgence of viewers and were showing better numbers than it had in previous years. This is what Jennifer Salke, the President of NBC Entertainment and who just renewed her contract so she is still currently the President had to say and this is quoted from that press release. “‘Days of our Lives’ continue to be a fan favorite for the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 50th season,” said Salke. “‘Days’ has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively due to the hard work of the producers, writers, cast and crew who have worked tirelessly to make ‘Days’ the ratings success it is today.
What does that mean for the future? That means that it has simply not been decided about whether or not the show will go past September 2016. We do know that Days of our Lives shoots approximately 6 months in advance so even when the show is cancelled, it will air at least six months after that date. There have been bogus postings about Days being renewed or Days being cancelled neither is true. The last time Days contract with the network was extended was in January of 2014 and that extension (not renewal) was until September 2016. That is the correct and accurate status of ‘Days of our Lives,’ at the time of this publishing which is July 28, 2015. We realize this isn’t going to be a popular piece among the Days fans but it is the truth and we only bring you the truth.
The Daily Banner crew thinks that because this is the only soap that NBC has on air that there is a very good chance that it will be renewed. The show still has 1 year and 2 months left of its last renewal and fans should sit back, watch and enjoy that.

If however it isn’t, and the worst comes to pass, the Daily Banner lunch crew certainly hopes that they write a proper ending to the show and not mangle and disrespect it like ABC did with ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life To Live.’

I was filled with joy when I read tht DAYS was Extended another year!!! This article really saddens me. I am a fan of almost fifty years, and I would be completely and utterly DEVASTATED, IF DAYS WERE TAKEN OFF THE AIR. I have watched my beloved show for almost all of the days of my life! I began this journey at the age of eleven and I am sixty two and a half today! Let me be really clear and plain about what I would do if DAYS were taken away! I would absolutely BOYCOTT NBC FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!!! I WOULD CALL ON PEOPLE IN ALL OF THE GROUPS AND CLUBS THAT HAVE ARISEN BEAUSE OF DAYS POPULARITY, TO DO THE SAME. Days is the only soap I watch and have watched it faithfully for the last 37 years…and I started watching it with my grandmother who watched it from day 1
Days of Our Lives is the only Soap I watch now. If they remove it then my Soap days are over. Leave it alone. We enjoy it.
I have been watching Days almost 50 years. My Mother & Grandmother were also big fans of the show. They are both deceased now. I still watch everyday.
I always watch Days since I was little and I’m 31 now. My kids watch it with me. Sometimes I get mad when I can’t watch it. Its a part of my weekday I get my kids up for school do some cleaning watch my 9’O’Clock show then my 10 do some other things watch news at 12 then patently wait for Days at 1.
I sure hope it stays on the air considering there’s only 4 left..i say we the fans do everything to keep them on the air..

I have watched Days since day one. I used to be a soap fanatic. In the day, soaps would start at 10:30 and go until 4:00. During the course of all these years, I gradually went down to just Days. Generally I like most of the story lines. Some I don’t. But, here I am 50 years later, recording every show (in case I fall asleep). I LOVE my DAYS!!!

I have watched this show for 49 years and love it please don’t take it off the air it’s cruel to people who invest their love into these characters they are our friends. Please don’t cut our lifeline off.
I hope “Days” doesn’t get canceled. I’ve been watching it for about 30 yrs plus. Some of the story lines are silly, but most are good. They do need some new characters.

I have been watching Days of our Lives for decades! It seems forever actually. I eagerly wait everyday to see it. Please extend this soap infintily. I love all the actors and of course i kinda connect with them in my daily life. I love Days. I can not express it enough. I can’t imagine going one day with out watching it. Thanks!

Cancelling Days is not what should be done. What they need to do is get some fresh young writers to gain a new perspective on Days.ecause the story lines could use some freshness and excitement. So get some new writers.
I will be very very unhappy if days was cancelled it is a good good show there is not much to watch through the day I allways look forward to watching days as there are allways storys that can be told and we all can sit and watch and look for word to seeing the storys un fold and like and dis like a charater this has been going for so long I can see it going for a long long long time in the future it is a show you can relate to and talk to friends and family about it charaters come and go there is always room for a new charater and new storys for them and the older charaters to be involved if you have the right writer and staff this can be done this show is a icon it would be so sad for it to fold the young charaters of to day could become the next older generation the right actor in a roll makes all the difference for the show the two companys should take notice of what the public wants if an actor is not appealing in the charater the should think about changing him or her as this is what makes or breaks and it would be great if they could or there office staff could read some f b posts about the charaters we the public want the show to be going for a long time still there is still more that can be written about it to let the new charaters now about the past there could be a flash back episiodes and bring the charaters into the new future I could go on an on with my thoughts of the show as I said I/we would be heart brocken if the show was no more

i used to watch days with my mom and she is gone now my oldest daughter and i watch it together to keep our tradition going and really enjoy this time together. please keep it going.God bless
