Country Christian Jimmy Charles finds it’s a Hard Way To Go
As I looked over the sleeve that the CD from Jimmy Charles sitting on my desk, I thought that the title Hard Way to Go put forward some expectations of what was on that disc. I mean it makes me think it’s going to be a hard driving sound. I vaguely remember that he was on season 9 of American Idol. So let’s quit waiting and have a listen. Enjoy Jimmy Charles Hard Way to Go finds the way to CD Review.
“Blue Spaces”
The song opens up with some guitars that are shedding rock at its best. “Blue Spaces” is a nice little modern country feeling tune.
“She’s Where I Belong”
As you transport into song two on this EP you wonder how that same voice from the opening song could be so soft and tender. This is a nice slow dancing tune that is at home on a dance floor or wafting across the radio at the local necking place. Great song no matter how you play it..
“Rollin’ On”
Here is a song that is a very modern top 40 country. There is just enough punch to keep it interesting and enough smoothness to make it palatable to almost anyone’s ears. Just let it keep “Rollin’ On”.
“God and a Woman”
The tune is lilting and tells a great story about the two things that make life worthwhile and that is “God and a Woman”. It is a nice love song that should do well on today’s radio market. The acoustic guitar and Mandolin help keep this song mellow.
“Superman”

“I am Not Alone”
Keeping with the flow of the previous song, this one also touches on the Cancer theme and hopefully the song “I am Not Alone” will help give people fighting the disease the will to go on. The arrangement is tight with some nice harmonies.
“Hard Way to Go”
This is the only song on the EP that was not co-written by Charles. “Hard Way to Go” is a look into the depths of addiction and Charles’s voice is full of the pain and anguish that makes the song more than believable.
After listening to the E.P. it is hard to come up with what I would want to pick as my favorite song. This isn’t a CD that you will likely pick up and play at your New Years eve party. I think that once you listen to it and pay attention to the lyrics that you will find it in your personal play list.
This music critic gives this CD a soft 5 because there is always room for improvement, even when it is hard to find.
I have this CD and I love it. My favorite is Hard Way To Go but each song touches my heart
