Joey Feeks records messages to her baby girl making sure she can still talk to her even after she is gone.   She is recording messages in holiday books so she can still read those books to her in the future.  This is both heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.

Everything about Joey & Rory and their journey is heartbreaking and beautiful.  When the nation first met this couple they were contestants on, “Can You Duet,” where they came in 3rd place.  Being in 3rd place still scored them a record deal with Vanguard Sugar Hill.

Things were great for many years as the couple found themselves on TV commercials, singing, writing and recording while working their much loved farm.

Two years ago Joey would discover she was pregnant and her midlife miracle baby would be born with Down syndrome. Around the same time she was diagnosed with Stage IV Cervical Cancer.   The couples love faith and belief in GOD has gotten them through the last two years of battling cancer while raising an infant.  Joey has decided to live out what time she has left in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family and the sound of her baby’s laughter.

She is now on home hospice and sleeping a lot of the time.  When she is awake she spends those moments with the baby and her loving husband Rory.  Rory is her rock, a wonderful husband and father.  GOD must have given him extra strength during this time because he writes of this experience with such grace and composure.  Where other people would falter and fall apart, Rory seems to get closer to GOD.

There is no doubt in anybody’s mind that the love that they share will continue on forever and that their home will always be filled with Joey’s loving spirit and warmth.

This is what Rory said in his blog post today:

“I want my wife to be remembered, by me, by others who love her even though they’ve never met her. I guess that’s why I write this blog.  I want her sweet voice and her love to live on and not just outlive her… but to somehow outlive me, and our girls, and even their children.

And so today, as I sit beside her, I remember my friend Tim and his life and what an inspiration he was to me, and how his words and music are helping get me through this time and speaking to me just when I need them. And someday when your moment comes with someone you love maybe, just maybe, you will remember Joey and her words and voice and life will comfort you and her song will live on.”
