The Old Days on General Hospital

Kin Shriner who plays Scotty and Jacklyn Zeman who plays Bobbie sit down with Maurice (Sonny) from General Hospital on State of Mind. What is so interesting about this interview is they talk about the past. KIN was on GH before Jackie

During this interview Kin reveals that he was on General Hospital at least 6 months before Jackie was.  They were in the Desi Lu studio’s and they were live for at least a year.  The show almost got canceled around that time.  They talk about how Desi Arnaz created the 3 camera angles. It really seems that Maurice really loves this interview.  They talk a lot about the red lights.  They could only talk when the red light was on them. There was no formal blocking then.

Maurice talks about his trials and tribulations

It seems to remain a real sticking point to Maurice that when on All My Children, he was always told to talk louder. They also didn’t want him to have his hands near his face. He has broken furniture on set and fought with producers.  He wanted to act his way and could have never survived going live.

Kin is naturally funny

So we find out that Genie Francis has a photographic memory.  Genie helped him out on his lines and there were times Kin had to improvise his way out of a mess.   Maurice admits that he is absolutely afraid of going live.  Kin lets us know that with live there are also teleprompters.  Teleprompters costs $25,000 dollars a day so they dropped them because they were too expensive. They laugh about how some big time actors in the movies today that have trouble memorizing 10 lines a day. Marlon Brando would actually have people tape his lines on their foreheads.

Jackie didn’t audition for General Hospital

Because Jackie had been on One Life To Live, she didn’t have to audition for General Hospital. They just offered her the role. She also tells us that she never auditioned for a part she didn’t get.
