Law and Order actor dies. Fred Thompson passes away from a recurring lymphoma.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Confirmed by the family of Fred Thompson, Tennessee Senator, attorney and well known Law and Order actor has passed away.

It is being reported that Thompson died after a recurrence of lymphoma at the age of 73.

He was known for many acting roles but most specifically for his role on the iconic television series Law & Order from 2002 to 2007.  Thompson also appeared in over 20 motion pictures including Cape Fear, In the Line of Fire and The Hunt for Red October.

After 10 years in Hollywood, Thompson decided to go into public service. He headed back to Nashville and launched his Senate campaign.  He completed Al Gore’s last two years in 1994.  Thompson was re-elected in 1996 to a full six-year term.

“It is with a heavy heart and a deep sense of grief that we share the passing of our brother, husband, father, and grandfather who died peacefully in Nashville surrounded by his family.
