Little River Band was on their way back from Florida. They had a Saturday night show in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Because of bus driving rules and regulations, bus drivers are not allowed to clock more than 8 hours.  Consequently, the band had planned on being dropped off at the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to fly to their home cities from there.  Right by Macon, Georgia the bus had other ideas. The sound engineer Jim Wakefield for the band posted this upon his return home. Read on for more about Little River Band survives harrowing tour bus accident.

Jim Wakefield explains what happened

Interesting turn of events this morning coming back from FL. We played an outdoor show last night in Port St Lucie, FL. Left about 12:30 AM to do the eight hours to get to ATL to fly the rest of the way home. For anybody who isn’t in the business or deals with trucks, the driver can only run so many hours straight and then he has to park for at least eight hours.
Earl’s hours were going to be out before we got back to Nashville. He was supposed to drop us in Atlanta to fly home. About 8:00 AM the Left front tire decided it had other ideas. It blew, and we kissed a guard rail down the length of the bus, and trailer. Not a great deal of damage, but it did destroy the wheel. We were stuck on the interstate down by Macon.
That meant Ubers for the 90ish miles to ATL, missed flights and finally getting home a little bit ago. If you spend as much time on a bus as most of us do, this kind of thing is going to happen. We all got bounced around a bit, everything in the front lounge on the counter ended up in the very front of the bus in a big pile in the driver’s compartment.
