Miss Freddye “Hey Santa Claus”
Anyone who doesn’t know the name of this song should check out their hearing. The hook express is alive and well on the intro of “Hey Santa Claus.”To those of you who may not know music terms, the hook is something that grabs you and makes you remember the song. Sometimes it’s a lyric such as it is here. Sometimes it’s a musical lick that sticks in your mind. In this case it is the title repeated. Walking Acoustic Bass Line
Miss Freddye relents in the song “Hey Santa Claus.” All she needs for the season is her baby and a Christmas tree. This is all over the walking acoustic bass line in the background and her wonderful full voice. There is a nice combo behind her that includes some pretty impressive work on the organ as well as the lead guitar.
Many of us have gotten used to the sound of a programmed drummer in the background of most songs doing weird impossible rolls and such. This song definitely shows how well a fairly innocuous rhythm can drive the song. In fact it carries it to great heights.
Happy easy feeling
Miss Freddye “Hey Santa Claus” song review by Dashal Jennings
Is it worth listening to “Hey Santa Claus” as the holidays approach? Sure it is. It’s a nice unforgettable song with a bouncy beat. It can surely help chase the Holiday blues. I doubt that it will become a Christmas best selling classic like Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas.” However, I doubt that it was intended to be anything more than what it is, a happy easy to sing along bouncy song to enjoy in front of the fire.
In Conclusion
I’ve heard some of Miss Freddye’s other work and “Hey Santa Claus” leaves me feeling confident that the music is in good hands as usual.
