Shooting Star
While the song “Shooting Star” by John McDonough lacks what today the industry would call Polish, I found the song to be interesting, listenable and well written. No, you won’t find a crowded dance floor necking to this one but if you are at home and close your eyes and listen you will notice something. Think of an old black and white western style movie and you will start to envision the whole scene before you. That boys and girls is the lost art of songwriting. We’ll Answer The Call
You see somewhere along the way people that own the record companies got off track and forgot that it’s all about the song. If the music is good and the words are as well then that’s what you need. Most of the lifeless mush cramming the airwaves looking to be heard will be piles of waste. Songs like “Shooting Star” and others with substance and mass will remain.

New single Shooting Star from John McDonough’s CD We’ll Answer The Call song review
Listen to a song on the radio and think to yourself, will I still be listening to this is 10 years? If the answer is yes, then you have a hit. Times tunes and words will last for years. The instrumentation is sparse by today’s standards with basically acoustic guitars, bass and piano as the main backing. There is an occasional percussion part thrown in for good mix. The tempo in my mind makes it seem slow but feels like 155 BPM and is in a very emotional key of C#m.
In Conclusion
The song puts me to mind of some real legends that could make you see with their words. People like Bob Dylan, early Paul Simon and others. It is nice to see the craft of songwriting is still alive. This new single Shooting Star from John McDonough’s CD We’ll Answer The Call song review get a full 4 Stars rating.
