There is a little traditional country feel with some modern day country instrumentation. Throw in a little twinge of southern rock added in for good measure. In other words it’s something that you can’t take off the CD player once it starts.

“This Side of You”

The CD kicks off with his current single release. The nice part about this particular song is that it makes you feel like you are listening to an old friend. It is new and fresh and yet somehow familiar.

“Better”

The second track on the CD is a moderate tempo tune that has such a positive vibe that if you just listen as it plays and look at your feet somewhere after the halfway mark, I think you’ll find that your toes are tapping away in time.

“Ease On Down”

If you close your eyes and listen to the words you will get an image of setting back and just enjoying the simple life. The way that the world is today it is nice to find music that can bring you such vivid imagery in just over three and a half minutes.

“Gypsy Soul”

Whole Monroe had a hand in every song on this is the only song that is entirely self penned. I think that it shines as what should be quite a gem to the listener.

Bluesy and soulful is the best way to describe this entry. It stands in stark contrast to the rest of the album. But it stands well and lets you know that there is much more to the man and his music than we are hearing.

The production on this album is great. It’s hard to believe that this is an indie release. The arrangements are spot on. It is not over produced like so many things coming out of Twang Town these days. It is something that Monroe should be proud of and would be a welcome addition to anyone’s CD collection.
