Ringo knew he wasn’t feeling well but hearing about the death of his friend still came as quite the shock. The news came weeks after it was announced that Watts would miss the band’s US tour dates to recover from an unspecified medical procedure. Watts was previously treated for throat cancer in 2004.
WATTS HISTORY WITH THE ROLLING STONES
Firstly, Charlie Watts became a member of the Rolling Stones in January 1963. Secondly, he was part of the fledgling group that included Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones. With the help of Watts, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles made it big. His driving drums kept the beat for the rock ‘n’ roll classics such as Get off My Cloud, I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Get Off My Cloud and Sympathy for the Devil.

Immediately after the news broke that Watts had passed, the tributes started rolling in. Consequently, here are some of the musicians that wanted to honor Watts.
Queen guitarist Brian May wrote on Instagram: “He was the nicest gent you could ever meet. And such a pillar of strength for the Rolling Stones – to whom he brought a touch of Jazz and a mountain of pure class.”Lenny Kravitz remembered him as “the beat of The Stones”, while Bryan Adams also paid his condolences. RIP Charlie Watts, one of the greatest rock drummers ever and a real gentleman. The love and honors have continued through today. Additionally, the statement from the Rolling Stones’ publicist said: “He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today [Monday] surrounded by his family.
“We kindly request that the privacy of his family, band members and close friends is respected at this difficult time.”
He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Seraphina and granddaughter Charlotte.
